LuckySIM and Lucky2 phone card real-name registration steps and information (applicable to physical SIM card/eSIM)

In order to comply with the latest regulations of OFCA, Hong Kong telecom operators LuckySIM and Lucky2 require real-name registration (RNR) for designated products, but this does not apply to all phone cards.

For customers using eSIM or physical SIM cards, whether it is LuckySIM with a Hong Kong local number, or Lucky2 using data services in Hong Kong or Taiwan , they must complete real-name registration before activating the service. However, to use Lucky2 in other countries or regions , no registration is currently required. For example, the Lucky2 Japan Travel Card does not require registration before or after arrival. Just insert the card and activate the roaming settings, and you can use it locally!

It is worth noting that Lucky SIM has two brands, each with its own real-name registration link. Please make sure to use the correct link below to complete the registration successfully.

Lucky SIM real name registration process

First, enter your ICCID or Hong Kong phone number on the LuckySIM website. Then the real-name registration process includes three main steps: entering personal information, taking and uploading identity documents, and submitting the application.

After the customer completes and submits the registration, the service does not officially take effect. LuckySIM will manually check again and the service will only be activated after passing the second review. Under normal circumstances, the verification of information will be completed within a few hours to two working days. When the service takes effect, you will receive a text message notification that the relevant package is effective.

【Step 1】 Select user type:

Individual users
Company/Corporate User

【Step 2】 Provide proof of identity:

Use Hong Kong Identity Card or other valid identity document.
Real-name registration can now be completed through iAM Smart.

【Step 3】 Fill in your personal information:

Follow the instructions to fill in the required personal information.

【Step 4】 Submit your application:

After confirming that the information is correct, submit the registration application.

【Step 5】 Wait for verification:

After submission, the system will verify your registration information, which may take several hours to up to 2 working days.
Once the verification is completed, you will receive a text message notification.

The following Android device demonstrates how to complete real-name registration using a LuckySIM Hong Kong phone number SIM card. The steps are roughly the same as for iPhone, but the specific process is for reference only. All information is subject to the latest official announcement from LuckySIM.

【Step 1】Whether it is Android, iPhone or other brands, you can open the phone, go to the SIM card settings, and turn on the SIM card.

【Step 2】You will receive an SMS immediately, which will provide you with the expiry date of the phone number, a link to check your account details, and a link to purchase a LuckySIM phone card. Your Hong Kong phone number will also be displayed.

If the validity period shown on the SMS is not in accordance with the original purchase plan, please complete the real-name registration as soon as possible and the expiration date will be changed.

【Step 3】After inserting the physical SIM card into your phone or successfully installing the eSIM, connect to Wifi and use your mobile browser to go to the LuckySIM prepaid card real-name registration link: https://rnr.luckysim.com.hk

Enter the ICCID number (eSIM customers can check the email, physical card customers can check the large card certificate/small SIM card), and select SMS verification code registration.

【Step 4】Is this your first time registering a prepaid card with our company with your real name? Then click "Please Select".

【Step 5】Click "Please Select" and select "Registering for the first time" or "Previously registered (other) prepaid cards".

【Step 6】"Is this your first time registering a prepaid card with our company?" Click "Please Select" and select "First time registering" or "Previously registered other prepaid cards."

The next line "Are you over 16 years old?" requires an answer.

【Step 7】Do you hold a Hong Kong Identity Card? 』Since real-name registration applies to both Hong Kong residents and non-Hong Kong residents, you need to click one of the three options:

Hold and use a Hong Kong Identity Card for registration
Do not hold a "Hong Kong Identity Card" and will use a "passport" for registration
Do not hold a Hong Kong Identity Card. I will use the "Hong Kong and Macau Pass" for registration

【Step 8】To submit your ID, you can use the Hong Kong government’s “Smart Access” app, or use your mobile phone to take a photo and upload your ID.

【Step 9】Choosing the government’s “smart convenience” can theoretically speed up the real-name registration approval process.

【Step 10】Notes on taking image files: the uploaded photo must be clear and visible, and only the original ID card will be accepted; photocopies or screenshots will not be accepted.

【Step 11】Check the identity document information, including the original photo, ID number, and English name of the ID holder.

【Step 12】If the identity document is incorrect, you can click "Edit Information" at the bottom.

【Step 13】will automatically display: "If you modify the information, our customer service staff will need to verify the information offline. The real-name registration will be completed in about two working days, and the prepaid card can complete the activation process."

【Step 14】Reissue your identity document and upload it. After the customer completes and submits the registration, the service does not officially take effect.

【Step 2】Submit your personal information, which can be edited by yourself.

【Step 3】Click "I confirm that the above information is correct and proceed with registration". After the customer completes and submits the registration, the service will not be officially effective.

If you have not received any confirmation of successful registration, you may contact your mobile operator directly for further enquiries. Real-name registration needs to be finally confirmed by Lucky SIM company. Everyone must check it carefully to avoid the number being deactivated. Registration deadline: From October 1, 2024, all newly activated local data and voice stored-value cards must be registered with real names before activation.
